Camping at Wapiti

For a central Canmore camping experience join us at Wapiti Campground located at 100 Ray McBride Street at the Northwest end of the scenic Town of Canmore, Alberta.
We are nestled in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies close to the majestic Three Sisters Mountains and only minutes away from world renowned Banff National Park. Bring your camera to capture the breathtaking scenery and wildlife!

Please note, the following important details.

We are a first come, first serve, family friendly campground that looks forward to enhancing your stay in the Canmore and Banff area. We do not take reservations but are here to help as best we can. Please call or email 2-3 days before your arrival to check occupancy levels. July and August are very busy months.

We have 37x walk-in, no power, tent only sites and 50 x 30amp powered sites. The tent sites are 10-30 feet from the car park area and we have a variety of length of RV sites but are limited for 45ft plus sites. Please note, there is no dump station or septic available. 2 Potable water / fill stations are available but are not located at sites.

Washroom facilities with paid-token showers and an outdoor sink for dishes are on site. We also have a small general store that sells limited goods including firewood, ice, ice-cream and other limited essentials. Our prices are not inflated and in most cases are better than what you may find in town.

Our store has variable hours so if you arrive and it is closed, please note that Self Registration is in effect. Please be sure to indicate all necessary payment information including your CVV. The Self Registration booth is secured at all times.

All sites are first come first serve - no long term stays unless approved by management. Check Out is 11am. Check in is 2pm but may be earlier with management approval or if campground is not busy or at capacity.
All stays are revocable if any of the rules and regulations are not met.
No refunds or partial day stays
Quiet Hours are 10pm - 8am and are strictly enforced.
5 Day Max Stay (2 additional days may be approved by staff if there are no issues, payment is up to date and no violations of campground rules and regulations.)

Canmore, Alberta is located in the beautiful Bow Valley next door to Banff National Park. There are endless outdoor adventures that you can experience, observe wildlife, and slow down. Canmore has many shops, restaurants, parks and pathways to explore. However you choose to spend your time in the majestic Canadian Rockies, be sure to put visiting Canmore at the top of the list. As the only campground in Canmore, we look forward to your stay at Wapiti Campgrounds.

$47/night for 30 Amp powered sites..

$35/night for walk in, tent only sites. Please note, no power at these sites

Credit Cards and Cash are accepted at all times. Debit is available in person only

GST included

One vehicle permitted per site. All other vehicles must be parked off site.
One sleeping unit and One vehicle per unit unless additional unit is a pup or children's tent
One family / group per site. 4 adults max per site
Washroom Facilities including paid-token showers
Potable water is available for drinking and filling
Wash sink available for dishes. Please be respectful and keep this area clean for other campers

Please note, No dump stations available. The closest options are in Banff or Bow Valley Campground.

regulations

QUIET TIME IS FROM 10:00pm until 8:00am

At all hours, excessive noise which causes disturbance to others (such as loud music or prolonged generator use) will not be tolerated. Quiet time begins at 10:00pm and is in effect until 8:00am
Open alcohol must be kept on campsites. Any traveling between campsites with open beverages is not permitted.
The collection or burning of deadfall and pallet wood is prohibited. Outside wood of any kind is not permitted due to invasive species. Firewood is for sale and is at or below market pricing.
All fires must remain within the designated fire pits and cannot be left unattended.
All vehicles and accommodation units (including tents) must remain on the gravel pad.
Dogs and other domestic animals must remain on a leash or other restraining device at all times, even while on site (fences or enclosures are not adequate). Animals are not to be left unattended and any animals causing significant disturbances or concerns will not be permitted.
Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.

One family / group per site. No more than 4 adults site. Each camping unit must register and pay within 30 minutes of selecting a site.
Any persons visiting a campsite must leave by 11:00pm
Check-out time is 11:00am. Check-in time is after 2:00pm
Food, coolers, and garbage must not be left unattended on a site and must be put away inside a vehicle at night. This is bear country.
There are no refunds and all sales are final.
There are no long term stays unless approved by management. 5 day max stay - 2 additional days may be permitted with management approval. This is non-negotiable.
Failure to comply with any campground regulations may result in eviction.

Registration

Self registration in effect unless the store is open

A kiosk will be at the entrance that will provide details of the rules and regulations and rates. It will also have envelopes and site tags for campers to register and pay.
